How does tonvio detect the characters?
Automatically. Paste the text and tonvio parses it: every speaking character becomes a role with their lines collected under it, while descriptions and remarks like “he said” go to the narrator. You review the full breakdown before starting the generation.
Can I fix the breakdown manually?
Yes. Select any fragment with the mouse and assign it to another character, or add a character of your own to the cast. A fullscreen track editor with zoom helps with precise edits on long texts.
Who reads the author's words?
The narrator — using the base voice you pick for the project. A character you leave without an assigned voice is also read by the narrator, so a missing voice never blocks the generation.
How many characters can one text have?
tonvio creates a role for every speaking character it finds in the text, and you can add more manually. Each role can get its own voice from the catalog of 14,000+ options.
Can I re-voice just one character?
Yes. Regenerate a single character — or only a selected fragment — and the rest of the finished audio stays untouched. Handy when one voice doesn't fit after the first listen.
What is the text limit per generation?
Up to 200,000 characters per generation, depending on the plan: 75,000 on Unlimited ($45/month) and 200,000 on Unlimited ×2 ($80/month). The limit is shared across regular voiceover, translation and character voiceover.
